Badrinath Temple is a famous pilgrimage site located in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand state. It is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River in the Himalayan Mountains. This temple is at an altitude of approximately 3,300 meters (10,827 ft) above sea level.
This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. This Temple is one of the important pilgrimage sites of Hinduism. This temple comes under Char Dham Yatra and Panch Badri Yatra. According to Hindu scriptures, this temple was established by Narada Muni and the present form of the temple has been rebuilt by Adi Shankaracharya.
In the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, there is an idol of Lord Vishnu made of Shaligram stone, sitting in meditation posture. He is worshiped in the form of Badri Narayan. The doors of Badrinath temple open on Akshaya Tritiya in April-May and close after Diwali in November. In the 8th century, Adi Shankaracharya rebuilt the Badrinath temple.
Adi Shankaracharya established the Char Dhams and Badrinath is one of them. It was he who revived the ancient importance of the temple and made it a major center for Hindu pilgrims.
Introduction of Badrinath Kund :
Badrinath temple near is Badrinath Kund, which is also called Tapt Kund. It is considered very sacred. Hot water always flows from this pond no matter how cold the weather is outside. Scientists are also surprised as to how hot water comes out of this hot pond despite the weather being so cold here.
It is believed that whoever takes bath in this pond once can never suffer from skin diseases. According to mythology and religious texts, Lord Vishnu himself had performed penance here due to which this place became sacred.
The water level and temperature of this hot pond remains the same throughout the year. This temple and Taptakund are situated in the lap of the Himalayan Mountains. This place is full of natural beauty.
Best time to visit Temple:
The doors of Badrinath temple remain open from April-May to November. You can travel anytime in between. Especially from May to June, the weather at this time is pleasant and cool. At this time a large number of pilgrims come here to visit.
And the time from September to October is also the best because at this time the rainy season is over and the weather remains clear and cool.
